I’ve had some clients over the past few years who have said that skin cancer doesn’t run in their family so they don’t care to use SPF. I love educating clients on why SPF is crucial for all skin and especially harp on the fact that it is the best product to use for anti-aging.
After age 25, collagen production naturally declines by 1-1.5% per year. This loss is usually due to fibroblasts becoming less active, and can also be accelerated by lifestyle choices like smoking, sun exposure, and stress. Sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, etc. show up over time which is why it is so important to work on preventative care.
My best tips for anti-aging is to wear SPF daily (rain or shine), use vitamin C in the morning to fight free radicals and retinol every evening for cell turnover. Another key component to anti-aging is keeping your skin hydrated. I love a good hyaluronic acid serum, moisturizer and oil.
